Black & White Sunday – Convergence

This week, Paula has us looking at Convergence…and one of her suggestions was looking at creating images with the camera’s double exposure feature.

Well, as it happens I played with this for the first time a few weeks ago when I was in France, so here’s one I made earlier! It takes a bit of experimentation to get something that works. Oh, and this one looks more eye-catching in colour, but for the sake of the challenge….

A biker in chains, or just an old gatepost superimposed on a woman in the street??

Biker in chains?

Biker in chains?

Wander over to Paula’s blog for more here.

  1. Splendid idea, and I know I will see it in colour soon. It turned out pretty good. You should be satisfied, Sue. I know you are a harsh self-critic. Thank you for the entry.

  2. Double exposure is always tricky, so well done, Sue.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  3. Oh Sue, I love this.
I’ve not tried it myself and it looks challenging!

Well, I only tried it a few weeks ago! It takes a bit of experimenting, to say the least! More miss than hit, I would say, but occasionally you get one that works. Must try again sometime,….

  4. Ha! This is super brilliant, Sue. I think your jacket design could make you a fortune with the biker fraternity. 😀

  5. So much I don’t know how to do on my camera yet. I really need to apply myself to do more than just point and shoot. Sigh. You did an excellent job with this, Sue.

Well, I had never tried it with my previous camera (which may well have had the facility), and it was only when I saw a friend trying it out when we were in France that I decided to have a go! What camera do you use?

  6. What an interesting challenge! I too find multiple exposures in camera quite challenging but you’ve done it very well Sue!!

  7. I can’t even begin to understand the technicalities! But a fascinating shot.

Many cameras have this feature, you just select double exposure or whatever in the camera menu. That’s the easy bit…then you have to play around with trying different types of image for the background and for the main subject – most of mine ended up in the trash. But occasionally something works!! Patience is a virtue!!

  8. Wow, this is very clever – as I would expect from you!

  9. What a lot of patience that tricky shot would need but well done you nailed it, or maybe chained it!!!

  10. wonderful photo,Sue

  11. Me being a total innocent when it comes to photos, I simply admired and thought ‘interesting’. How was I to know it was clever? But I do now that I’ve read the comments 🙂

  12. a wow from me! I like it!

  13. Brilliant! I have no clue what double exposure is incidentally :/

    • Sue

Madhu, you do surprise me! It’s an in- camera feature (eg Nikon, Olympus and many others have it on DSLRs or mirrorless) where you can take two frames, one superimposed on the other….I seem to recall you have a D300?

  14. Sonel

Simply brilliant Sue! You’ve really overdone youself with this one. I love it! 😀 ♥

  15. Double exposure???!!!!!!! I can hardly handle a normal image. Great job again.
