To See a World in a Grain of Sand...
It was good that the lower one was open, provided a nice contrast with the darkness inside.
Best wishes, Pete.
Indeed, I would not have taken the picture otherwise!
Are these old mills abandoned now? Have you peeked inside? This shot intrigues me.
This mill is owned by the National Trust, and still used!
This means it will be preserved. Sue, I don’t remember if I asked you ( I know that I wanted) if you would be willing to be a guest photo challenger on my blog either for a post in colour or black and white, and the theme is your choice. I have openings as of September till the end of the year. Please let me know what you think.
I would be very honoured to be a guest challenger, Paula….but it will need to be towards the end of the year, say November time? 😀
Excellent 🙂 Would you like it to be in colour on a Thursday or in B&W on a Sunday?
I’ll go for black and white on a Sunday, please!
I’m glad to hear that. Now you only have to think of a theme that wasn’t used or scheduled fot this year (not on B&W Sunday nor for Thursday Special)
I think you have a full list on your site?
Yes, on “Scheduled challenges” page
And do you want to know what I have chosen soon?
No rush Sue, you can let me know by the end of September. Is that OK?
😊
Ok, I have two possibilities, but I think I shall suggest ‘Using Negative Space’
Oh, this will be your theme? Great. I’ve used it last year, so it’s ok this year.
Well, I would probably call it ‘isolating your subject’ or some such!
Sounds great, Sue.
Good oh!

Love the plank patterns and the tones of the image Sue.
Thanks! Glad you like :)0
Windows are such good subjects. Not only shapes, shadows, and lines, but the unconscious mental images/stories that stir in people’s minds.
Black and white highlights textures so well – roughness scarring a flat page or screen surface. Nicely done
Doors can do the same..stir the subconscious
Great picture – windows seem to have stories to tell!
Indeed!
A lovely mix of lines, shadows, patterns and textures – and peeling paint.
Thanks, Meg, glad you like it, I could have perhaps given it a bit more oomph!
What a lovely old building.. makes you want to go inside and see whats there. Looks great in B&W Sue 🙂
Thanks, Kaz – I like that it poses a question!
Love those old mills and in B&W even more evocative 🙂
Thanks, Sherri!
