Abstract – After Rothko?

Layers of Years – the detail in these brought to mind abstract paintings…. I like the lines of colour brought about with decay:

Abstract – Layers of Years 2

  1. I can see what you mean about Mark Rothko, Sue. Nice to find it in natural decay.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. Beautiful…to notice and to capture! On the same wavelength with Rothko (who was born in Latvia)…why not?! 🙂

  3. Ooh, these are awesome, Sue. I love them and I love Rothko!

  4. Beauty can be found most anywhere if we take the time to look for it I think Sue.
On another note I will be visiting my Mom in rural Canada for the next week or so. I may not be commenting as frequently but I will be back. 🙂

  5. I have to confess that I had to google to know who Rothko was 🙂 Now that I’ve seen his paintings, i understand better your post. This is quite interesting.

  6. I thought my twilight image was very much like a Rothko. I do have one. A very small postcard! I do like your alternatives 🙂

  7. You are so good at finding signs of decay, Sue. I just had a quick peek at Rothko’s work, and your Images stand up very well. 🙂

  8. I see what you mean about Rothko. The second is amazing and you could have fun editing and playing with it 🙂

  9. stunning.
    I love Rothko.

  10. And so of course do I. Your photos are more nuanced than Rothko. “Layers of years” is a lovely phrase. I missed a Rothko exhibition in Warsaw last year, and I’m regretful.

  11. They really are reminiscent of Rothko! One of my favourite contemporary artists 🙂

  12. These are works of art Sue, you have a real eye for the beauty around you and sharing it with us.
