Here we are on the third week of June for the One Four Challenge. Hosted by Robyn over at her blog,“Captivate Me”, this is all about processing an image in four different ways over 4 weeks. This month, I am working with another photograph I have taken of two old books found in my loft recently.
For this week, I wanted something lighter. I faffed around in Photoshop, but really don’t have the time or energy to work out how to create what I wanted – which was a line drawing/sketch effect… so exported the file to my iPad, played about using 2 edits in Sketch Master, and here is the result:

June Week 3
And here is a gallery of the original with all edits for comparison:
This is an interesting effect Sue.. amazing what can be done..! 🙂
Indeed!
Week 2 is still ahead for me!
Great! I don’t think I’ll top that one!
I adore the original image. The flower for a flourish is beautiful.
Thank you! 🙂
That week 2 version has a real ‘olde gold’ feel to it – That is my favourite. But I quite like the sketch effect too.
Thanks!
I like the sketch effect – looks like an illustration in a book.
It does rather, doesn’t it!
I really like this version. Isn’t it amazing what we can do on our mobile devices these days?!? Week two is still my favorite, but I know there is one more week of editing. I wonder what you will come up with next?
That’s the whole point, Kirsten – I have not the faintest clue!
Wow. This project is really beginning to take shape now.
Beginning to take shape? I’m like a headless chicken with it now! 😳
Lol – I knowthat feeling. I’m trying to create an ebook of poems and photos. It took all yesterday to decide on one page! With yours – I thought it looked like you were beginning to par the book down to essentials. Iwouldn’thave a clue how to approach that one either. Photography the cover and title page seems like a good way in. 🙂
Nice edit to try the sketch effect, yet the original is such a great photo, it is hard to improve on that one. However the vintage effect comes through both with week 2 and the sketch effect. Well done!
Thanks, Amanda! I must admit, I don’t think I can improve on week 2 which is my own favourite, but I was pleased that I managed to get the sketch with a bit of experimentation 🙂
i really like this edit
Thanks, Julz – so far the response has been a bit lukewarm!
really?????? I think it is very creative
Thanks! 😀
LOVE this effect Sue – perfect for this shot. Well done!!
Oh, great, another thumbs up for this one! 😀
I like the sketch, Sue, very effective as it picks up details, but I prefer the warmth of week 2.
Week 2 seems to be the favourite so far! But glad you liked my sketch attempt…..
Great edit, Sue. Looks like you’re having fun. 🙂
Funnily enough, Sylvia, I got really frustrated with this week’s edit! But an app on the iPad saved the day…. And no idea where to go from here!!
Looks like we had the same idea for this week. 🙂 You did a great work, it’s really looks like a pencil illustration.
I need to look at how you did it…I did it cheap and dirty!
You shouldn’t say that! Your result is great! I think, it doesn’t matter what kind of program or app one use, it’s all about ideas and creativity. You did a nice work!
Thanks, Agnes!
well done Sue!! It’s so amazing all the effects that can be achieved.
It’s great, isn’t it!
I thought that was very cool !
😀
Interesting and so different to the others.
A bit of a departure! 😀
Such a good challenge this one and a lovely entry for it – I adore old books and manuscripts and personally prefer week 1 so far of these because I love atmospheric lighting too!
Thanks, Jane! Atmospheric lighting was just side light from a window….I try to use natural light whenever possible 🙂
Me too Sue, don’t possess any camera lighting at all – has it’s challenges but prefer the results!
I had a flashgun with the Nikon, but rarely experimented, so nothing now!
This is a great result Sue 😃 It’s very much like an illustration you’d see in one of your beautiful books. I like it.. and the ‘faffing’ about 😜😜
Thanks, Robyn – I do feel I am spending too much time faffing about at the moment 😳
Oh we have our moments dont we Sue?! Thats where tutorials come in handy 😃
Indeed
😃😃
I love this playful version, I am a sucker for that.
Ah, great, glad someone likes it!! 😀
A beautiful image that looks great in all three edits. But I think I prefer the first best of all.
Thanks, Madhu. Opinion seems to be split between first and second…
2 and 3 for me 🙂 It’s a great fun isn’t it?
Certainly is!
