This week’s WordPress Photo Challenge is “On the Way”, and Ailsa has asked us to show something Modern for the Weekly Travel Challenge. I was flummoxed as to what to post for either, until I went to my favourite Walled Garden this afternoon.
I was on the way into the cafe for my cream tea, when I noticed there was an exhibition of ‘Functional Sculptures’, so thought I would take a look. I was entranced by an amazing Breathing Clock…. yours for only £9,200!! It’s clever design had the top and bottom pulled in, then released as the two sides were pulled in…astonishing to watch! I am showing these two images which try to illustrate the effect (I was standing in precisely the same spot for each).
Only £9,200 Sue? It’s a snip. I’ll take two…Your photos show how it works perfectly.
Best wishes, Pete.
😉
An interesting piece of work Sue.. certainly an interesting price! 🙂
Indeed! Fascinating, but way out of my price range!
Enterprising linking of two challenges, Sue. I especially love the clarity of the shadows. Does the clock tell the time? And please, what is cream tea?
Oh, yes, this clock tells the time, and seemed accurate when I saw it. A cream tea is afternoon tea with scones, jam and lashings of clotted cream! A pure indulgence… 🙂
That’s what I guessed. My first image was of a cup of tea with cream added and that did not seem very attractive at all. Whereas your description of pure indulgence entices me even after a Polish feast for Sunday lunch.
😀 now I’m curious as to what the Polish Sunday lunch consisted of!
My daughter’s wonderful mother-in-law created a basically vegan meal for my vegan partner: a real gift of love from a meat-eating Pole! Pierogis, potato pancakes with mushroom sauce (mushrooms picked in the forest last year), golonka made with kasia
How marvellous!
… Golonka, usually made with ham hock, but this time with buckwheat. And then an apple charlotte sort of dessert. There was also, of course, vodka. (Sorry. I pressed send mid-feast)
🙂
I really fascinating clock, Sue, but at that price, I will have to resist. 🙂
Can’t say I blame you!! 🙂
Very unique Sue …Love it
Thanks! It is rather something else! 😀
That is a great clock, and an interesting response to the two challenges. I particularly like ‘On the Way’ – it can be interpreted in so many ways!
Yes, I also thought the same! 🙂
Well I like it but apparently I don’t have a full appreciation considering the price!
Hehe! Neither do I, then! 😳
so cool…..
Isn’t it! 😀
Flexible time!?
Flexi time…that’s what I should have called it, then it would have been ultra-modern, Andy! But whilst the clock was flexing up and down, side to side, it was actually keeping perfect time
that’s wierd!! 😀 But fascinating! Great shot Sue!
It was weird, but most definitely fascinating! What led that person’s mind to create such a thing? 😀
Interesting clock, i really like it when you are able to see the mechanism and it’s not concealed…but that price…ouch…
It was interesting to see, but the price is a real ‘ouch’

shame I don’t have £9k lying around!
Hahaha!
