Something Modern on the Way

This week’s WordPress Photo Challenge is “On the Way”, and Ailsa has asked us to show something Modern for the Weekly Travel Challenge. I was flummoxed as to what to post for either, until I went to my favourite Walled Garden this afternoon.

I was on the way into the cafe for my cream tea, when I noticed there was an exhibition of ‘Functional Sculptures’, so thought I would take a look. I was entranced by an amazing Breathing Clock…. yours for only £9,200!! It’s clever design had the top and bottom pulled in, then released as the two sides were pulled in…astonishing to watch! I am showing these two images which try to illustrate the effect (I was standing in precisely the same spot for each).

  1. Only £9,200 Sue? It’s a snip. I’ll take two…Your photos show how it works perfectly.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. An interesting piece of work Sue.. certainly an interesting price! 🙂

  3. Enterprising linking of two challenges, Sue. I especially love the clarity of the shadows. Does the clock tell the time? And please, what is cream tea?

    • Sue

Oh, yes, this clock tells the time, and seemed accurate when I saw it. A cream tea is afternoon tea with scones, jam and lashings of clotted cream! A pure indulgence… 🙂

  4. I really fascinating clock, Sue, but at that price, I will have to resist. 🙂

  5. jakesprinter

    Very unique Sue …Love it

  6. That is a great clock, and an interesting response to the two challenges. I particularly like ‘On the Way’ – it can be interpreted in so many ways!

  7. Well I like it but apparently I don’t have a full appreciation considering the price!

    • Sue

Flexi time…that’s what I should have called it, then it would have been ultra-modern, Andy! But whilst the clock was flexing up and down, side to side, it was actually keeping perfect time

  8. that’s wierd!! 😀 But fascinating! Great shot Sue!

  9. Interesting clock, i really like it when you are able to see the mechanism and it’s not concealed…but that price…ouch…
