5 Photos, 5 stories – Day 1

Pauline of ‘Memories are Made of This‘ has nominated me to do the 5 photos, 5 stories. So my intention its to stick to a self-imposed theme of ‘a sense of place’, and see how I can interpret this in different ways.

Today, nothing tricky (and who knows, all my images may end up being straightforward).

For this image, I hope my viewer can transport themselves to the country where this was taken…. imagine themselves out in the bustle of the early evening, late sun seeping through into the narrow street, scents of food being prepared, and above all the sounds – of lively conversation, of Vespa engines buzzing about.

Early evening in the town

Early evening in the town

Just that very short piece of prose today – another day I might try a haiku, perhaps!

And now I need to fulfil the second part of this challenge, and invite another blogger to take part. Today I would like to nominate Debbie of Travel With Intent. Debbie is a great traveller, and has an eye for the small details.

There’s no obligation, Debbie – have fun if you want to join in!

The challenge is to just “post a photo each day for five consecutive days and attach a story to the photo. It can be fiction or non-fiction, a poem or a short paragraph and each day nominate another blogger for the challenge”.

This is right where I want to be- a small cobble stoned (or tiled) street in early evening! Great shot.

  2. Very cool young Italians. They do ‘hanging around’ so well. We could learn a lot…
    Best wishes, Pete.

  3. Lovely evening scene, Sue. I see it’s all young people who are out on the street.

  4. Yes I can transport myself to Sicily!

Not Sicily, in fact! This was Umbria a few years ago…. I nearly posted Sicily again, but thought I would go somewhere else in Italy! 😀

  5. Now let me think… youngsters sitting around on the steps, youngsters parading along the cobbled street, a fairly empty outdoor café, youngsters on scooters, evening sunlight and shadows. Looks like the start of a very busy sociable evening for the young people in this town in… Italy?

  6. Nice laid back atmosphere Sue and I thought Italy before I saw the comments, it has that vibe. Thanks for the link…

  7. I was going to say this could be Naples or maybe Siena. You very much captured the atmosphere of those wonderful Italian towns in Tuscany and surroundings.

Always a nice atmosphere in the evenings in the southern mediterranean countries . They really love their promenades .. on foot or by moped 🙂
    Nice capture Sue .

  9. ah yes a leisurely art!! Wonderful Sue!

  10. Chock full of charm and what wonderful mood!

  11. A promising start, Sue 🙂 I love this atmosphere-charged photo. You’ve just given me pause for thought though 😦 I’ve been thinking about what I’ll use as subject matter for my 5, but I’d forgotten I have to find 5 people to nominate. I’d better get a wiggle on!

  12. Love this image!!!! I can hear the all the voices and noise they create.!!!

  13. I love this image – a mix of bustle and chilled-out people

  14. I guessed Italy, with all those scooters, but I’ve no idea of the town. A nice post.

    Thanks for following my blog.
