  1. Good to see you back. And with Etna, the slumbering giant.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  2. The contrast of textures is striking: smooth clear blue sky, puffy smoke, rough rocks coated by cold slick sheets of snow/ice, the lumpy trees and dry brush. Great lines, too

  3. Beautiful lines – that old Mother Nature – what a gal.

  4. Oh wow, no snow when I was there, what month was this? It’s a fab image!

  5. great image. A tad scary if you live there!!

  6. Wow, wonderful shot ….. I wish that my images of Mt Fuji had that blue sky. I love the layers of different textures in the nature.

  7. Great place to explore!

  8. This is exactly like Ravensburger motive.. I love the hill with leaf-less trees in the foreground.

  9. Suzanne

I like the brooding quality of this photo – definitely has an under the volcano feel

  10. Beautiful! All the more so from a moving bus!

  11. Did you reach the top? This is a beautiful capture. It reminds me a lot of Vesuvius.

    • Sue

Got fairly high up by 4WD coach. You can’t get right to the top.

      • OK, but when the coach stopped, how far were you allowed to go. How close did you come?

      • Sue

Oh, it was flip pin’ cold, very windy, and my balance is shot to bits so I went no further…. Some people were walking through the snow, but I have no idea how far they got

  12. I was directed back here by Viveka’s enthusiasm, Sue 🙂 I think I glimpsed this on my phone as I browsed in a quiet moment in Poland, but it’s not the same. Quite beautiful! 🙂
