Graceful in Decay

I’m sure many people will disagree, but I feel there can be something graceful about leaves in decay, some creating an almost lace-like appearance – very delicate. Some just gently suspended…

I have created this collage of images from my wanderings today in the walled garden. I was delighted to come across a group of skeletal leaves…amazing what quickens my pulse!!  Thankfully, the gardeners who were tidying the place hadn’t yet spotted them.

  1. Leaves in decay.. they can be so beautiful.. I do not disagree.

  2. I’m with you on the potential beauty of decay. And they really do look like lace, I always think that too.
    Best wishes, Pete.

  3. Artists, like you, are able to find beauty in all things.

  4. Suzanne

I love lacy leaves and often use them in collages 🙂

  5. The last photo on the right especially is lovely; from the color to the lacy pattern. It could be a beautiful shawl or veil.

  6. I love the subtleness of the decay in these photos…

I totally agree with you Sue. Even in that decaying state, there is still a beauty about them. Stunning shots and I love the detailed textures and colours. 😀

  12. I’m a big fan of decay photos. Yours are really very beautiful and I always say it’s beauty in decay

  13. Yes, graceful indeed, Sue. Reminds me of how beautiful some very old people can look, even with all the wrinkles.

  14. Extremely graceful and now very well preserved in your beautiful images!

  15. Nice shots Sue. Plant decay is generally a graceful process – the delicate traceries exposed 🙂 I’d leave the animal decay to Damien Hirst though 😉

  20. Sue I have said this before but you really do have the talent to make what would be refuse for most and turn it into art. Your photos help train my eye to see beauty in unusual spots.

    • Hey Sue, you just turned up in my Spam – just fished you out…. Thank you very much for your lovely comment, much appreciated.

      • Well, I don’t know how the algorithm works for Spam…it sent you there, but I had 3 filthy comments which didn’t end up in spam until, thankfully I saw them and instantly spammed them…good thing comments need my approval before they show on the site…

  21. The beauty of nature in all its stages is captivating and intriguing. Well done.

  22. these are very delicate – and beautiful. I love every stage of natures living things…I wish we humans could love the old and wrinkled as well. I do. I loved my grandmother’s every wrinkle and her love, wisdom and beauty.

  23. So delicate and what lovely detail and tones. Goes to show there is beauty in all stages of life.
