One Four Challenge – Jan week4

I am extremely late posting for the final post of the One Four January challenge.. One Four Challenge is set by Robyn (of Captivate Me), and is all about processing an image 4 different ways over 4 weeks.

I had ideas for what I would do, but time has been short, and I couldn’t work out how to achieve what I wanted…. So I had a desultory play with sone iPad apps, altered the saturation, that didn’t really work, then played around with some old film effects, and then gave up….so this isn’t at all what I was looking for….

Better luck next week, I already have ideas for my image there!

  1. I think it’s lovely, Sue. The bucket and the sail boat are perfectly placed, and the grainy quality makes for a timeless feel to this image. 🙂

  2. I don’t know what you were looking to achieve of course, but I have to say that I don’t mind this shot Sue. It brings to mind an early photograph, perhaps 1870s or thereabouts. And as mentioned before, the grainy effect and the well-placed boat set it all off nicely.
    Best wishes, Pete.

Its a lovely soft treatment and adds more of that vintage photo feel 🙂 I completely get what you mean about having a vision but fail to be able to execute it, Im like that in PS all the time.

    • The thing is, I do so little post processing usually, but it would be nice to have a few more tricks up mŷ sleeve….life and time get in the way!

  4. Like the softness you have created here, I think you done a great job …. and first I thought it was an old photo. Looking forward to next week.

  5. This looks just like a vintage postcard to me Sue. I really like the treatment you’ve given your original. 🙂

  6. I think so too! A vintage postcard. Certainly lends itself to the image Sue 😃
A good finish I think, albeit not what you were planning 😜

  7. Hey Sue, I thought I hadn’t seen that sailing boat come by this week!! I don’t mind that vintage, grainy look. Sometimes it’s hard to create what you visualise… 🙂

  8. I love this image in all processing. This one I think might be my fave!

    • Well, isn’t this funny! It’s the one I was least pleased with because I thought I hadn’t done enough with it, but I’ve had some very positive comments…. 🙂

  9. Actually, I also like this one quite a bit…soft but clear in the foreground and I like the overall effect of the color levels! The only worthy point of this exercise, by the way and in my humble opinion, is to have fun at it! Go easy on yourself.

    • Haha…another one telling me I am too hard on myself! Thanks! Anyway, I agree the idea is to have fun, but with this one I lost the fun, it just didn’t int Ernest me anymore, the possibilities were too limited. Hey ho, onwards to the next one!

  10. I agree with Chillbrook, it certainly has a vintage postcard feel, soft focus and sepia.
