This is likely to be my last BID of 2014, much as I would have liked to end on an even number! these are from a fragrant bouquet of fresias, just as they were almost completely finished. The colours and textures here were a dream to work with:

The last fresias…
Something of the night about them, don’t you think?
I have loved this series from you, it has given me great pleasure, as I am sure these freesias have given you (hopefully they were scented as often these days they are not).
To my great relief, they were nicely scented. I mean, what is the point of a freesia with no perfume??
That is beautiful, I love seeing photos in this stage, still very beautiful.
Thanks, Leanne!
I’ve got my money on seeing some high-key narcissus of yours in February—whadda ya think?
Who knows, Allan?
Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful and engaging moment.
Thoughtful and engaging….I like that!
Outstanding, Sue! I love this image!
Thanks, Katrina, for your very enthusiastic comment! Much appreciated 🙂
very beautiful.
Thanks! Looks like this’ll be another popular one….
I love this series too… And I’m visualising a beautiful coffee table book. I would definitely buy one if it existed! Wishing you a very Happy Christmas. 🎄
Thank you! Well, d’you know, I have wondered about the book…..maybe something to think about in the New Year…. And on that note, have a great festive season!
Something very much of the night about them Sue, I find this so elegant and classy. Happy Christmas Sue 🙂 x
Classy is great, thanks Sherri! And happy Christmas to you, and here’s to a great 2015
You’re welcome Sue…it was the right word that came to me and it really is classy 🙂 Thanks so much and yes, here’s to a great one. See you soon 🙂
🙂
Amazing image, Sue. I’ve enjoyed your BID series very much. Brilliant idea for your photographic skills. 🙂
Many thanks, Sue….I hope to continue it next year, but with different flowers. May mean I post less of these, but time will tell!
wonderful photo and colors, beauty in decay
Thanks, Mitza….it’s amazing what can make a good photograph!
beautiful…freesias are my favorite flower…love the scent
I love the scent of a good freesia myself! Trouble is, too many now are scent less – these fortunately were fragrant before their demise….
Or ballet!
Indeed! 😀
a beautiful composition and poignant. A peaceful submission- if that makes any sense.
Thank you, Cybele….yes, I think that makes sense 🙂
A real sense of fading fragility in this dreamy image … it’s been absolutely lovely seeing the progression of this series of yours Sue . Much to look forward to then in 2015 🙂
Fading fragility, Poppy….that’s the phrase I needed! Glad you’ve enjoyed them 🙂 and I hope I can come up with a few more gems in 2015
A thought provoking series that calls to mind this haiku by Yosa Buson:
“Before the white chrysanthemum
the scissors hesitate
a moment.”
Many thanks, Marcelo, what a great idea to pair that haiku….
The dark background really enhances the midnight blues.
Thank you….I thought it worked!
Very right indeed and what an ending, Sue. They’re stunning! 🙂
Thanks, Jo! I’m sure I shall do more of these next year 😀
There is beauty in all stages of life, don’t you think? I love the colors and translucent petals…very dramatic on that black background!
I think you’re right, we can see beauty in all stages of life if we look for it. Glad you like this….it appealed to me for the same reasons you mention.
