Beauty in Decay/ 37

I have been letting these images accumulate recently, so time to post some more. These are some more fading flowers remaining from a beautiful bouquet, and I was told that these particular blooms are Japanese roses, but feel free to put me right! Never heard of these, I only know the Japanese anemones that I have in my garden.

This was one of the earliest images I took with my new micro four thirds camera. For those that are interested, this was taken in the morning in natural light from a window to the left of the image.  Olympus OMD em1 with Olympus M Zuiko 12-40mm at 34mm, 0.8 seconds, f10, with -0.7 ev exposure compensation. Plus post-processing with Nik ColorEfex. I thought the little mirrorless quite capable! And that zoom lens is a star!

Comments, please!

  1. Seems like the micro four thirds has done a terrific job Sue! Not familiar with a Japanese rose, so I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference either.

  2. Another example of the beauty of nature at all of its stages…

  3. Strangely beautiful even in this state of decay, Sue. The composition is just right too.

  4. The delicate color and amazing detail creates such a gorgeous image.

  5. Love it love it love it! 😀 I can’t get enough of this series!

  6. Excellent, like a detail from one of those Dutch still life paintings of the 1800’s.

  7. I’ve been away too long – very busy with work lately – this is beautiful! The light on them is just transcendent!
