Gorgeous photography.
Many thanks, Cee….just rediscovered the colour image and had a play with Nik SilverEfex!
Wonderful perspective, and great light/shadow. The arches are beautiful!
Thanks, Angeline. The detail and carvings on those arches became noticeable when I did the mono conversion..,
great shot – so evocative
Thank you, Suzanne – glad you think so!
great arches, texture, tiles and shadows – the solitary figure just makes this shot perfect.
Thanks! I have always liked cloisters, and wanted a shot with sunlight streaming through….but it was nearly always a cloudy day, wherever I was. We’re talking years! So this one, at last, was my sunny cloisters shot 🙂
Sue I have come back to study this photo. I love the shadows created through the windows. When using arches like this would you always try to center the arch. It looks like you are angled a bit and I love the creativity of that. Any tips?
Love your comment, Sue! Basically, this shot is the result of not checking I had got the verticals properly straight when I took the shot…..so I had to straighten the angle as much as I could in post processing. BUT it didn’t come out quite right, but I’ll go with the creativity!! 🙂
So generally go for the centering, straighten in editing but a little creativity doesn’t hurt. do I have it right? 🙂
With a shot like this, I would usually try and keep the lines as straight as possible and centre the arches, or the whole thing can look weird owing to perspective. I just liked your comment that I had been creative, whereas I think it was plain sloppiness on my part!
Nice shot there and great to have caught him mid step too !
Thanks, Poppy! 🙂
What a beautiful capture. Looks so beautiful in black and white.
Thank you…I thought it was well suited to monochrome
Fab capture Sue. Love the roof and the shadow patterns on the floor.
Many thanks, Madhu…I thought it deserved a monochrome conversion (to focus on the patterns)
This is just gorgeous photo Sue!
Many thanks, Ritva – glad you like it 🙂
Love the shadows and architecture here, great work.
Many thanks, Shane, glad you like it. It’s actually a monochrome rework of an image I took some years ago and I’m pleased with the detail.
Wonderful in every respect this Sue…
Thank you Sherri – I have actually put it in to a monochrome competition at my photo club just to get some critique from them, be interesting to see what the comments are! 🙂
All the best with it Sue, hope it proves to be very encouraging for you as it should be 🙂
Oh, this is just a fun internal competition, I have had some good comments in the past! Thanks for your encouragement!
Love the light and shadow. The architecture alone makes quite a magnificent shot. But the lone man adds emotion! Beautiful!
Many thanks, Emilio!
You got that just right – with the head and shoulder in the patch of sunlight. Lovely shot.
That’s what I thought too! Thanks 🙂
A wonderful shot, in every way.
Many thanks, Draco! Much appreciated
Love the light and the quiet!
Love it! The light and the quiet… 🙂
Outstanding Image Sue 🙂
Many thanks, Joe, much appreciated. That was taken a few years ago but I recently converted it to monochrome
