Beauty in Decay/31

A friend had a couple of decaying roses that were rescued in order for me to create another BID image….they were a gorgeous colour, and I set them in front of my well defunct agapanthus…  just look at those veins on the rose petals!

Moody, dark – another Caravaggio inspired image?

Cerise and blue

Cerise and blue

  1. Oooh…very dark and moody. Love it 🙂

  2. Allan G. Smorra

Another great use of light and composition. The rose petals are like the undersides of cabbage leaves.

  3. Stunning! The agapanthus is a great contrast.

    • Thanks, Madhu….I love the combination of colours. Was really lucky I still had the agapanthus to hand, but they really were on their last legs!

  4. Great one Sue! I’m very happy that you keep finding inspiration to post more of this series! It’s really beautiful.

  5. Now this is the one, Sue! I could live with this, framed and on the wall 🙂

  6. You’re absolutely right. Decay can be beautiful.

  7. A moving touch of blue mood

  8. This is great, I like the concept. Allan from Ohm Sweet Ohm directed me here to check out this series and I’m glad that he did. I neglected several Orchids earlier this year so their flowers died a bit prematurely that said when I gathered all the petals and flower remains off the floor they looked really really cool and artistic and of course I photographed them. It’s pretty amazing I think that even as they die off flowers still hold wonder and beauty (even in decay ;)). Very poetic.

The combination of the two is really nice as well as the darker shading of the photo. Lots of great texture too. I look forward to checking out the other photos in this series. Curious to know what drew you to this concept…?

    • Thank you, eLPY! Glad you like these… I have always loved abandonment, decay and dereliction but my opportunities for finding buildings that fit tis are extremely limited these days. Then one day I had some tulips that decayed in the most fascinating way, and BID began…
