Beauty in Decay/22

Looked out of the window yesterday, and noticed a rose decaying rather delicately.I liked the way many of the petals had bleached, except for a couple of darker ones.  So snipped it off, and this morning took a backlit shot, and created this high key image:

I did create a low key image as well, but it doesn’t ‘speak’ to me and won’t be appearing unless I get a better version.

  1. Excellent shot Susan! It’s very dreamlike 😀

  2. I am so very much enjoying your decaying series. 🙂

  3. Such beautiful work Sue. You are so talented!

  4. Very good – reminiscent of a victorian naturalist’s painted illustration 🙂

    • Thank you! Yes, I often think the effect of the high key backlit images is rather like the old plant illustrations…must be the detail of the veins in the petals 🙂

  5. Suzanne

Just gorgeous Sue. I love the way you have presented it on your blog too. The whole effect is really lovely.

  6. I love it! Any chance of you emailing it to me please? I am not really blogging currently but your photos are so inspiring!

  7. so beautiful in dying. This is a wonderful series!

    • Thank you, Cybele, much appreciated 🙂 the series is a bit in danger of faltering as I am running out of subjects at present! Sue 😦

  8. Sue, lovely to see you yesterday, and you’re right, I do love this pic – it is stunning. Polly x

  9. Poor old low key. I feel sorry for it 😦

Over to you...
