A landscape garden temple, Stowe

This one is for Leanne Cole…, over at her blog Leanne Cole Photography, she posted about some recent wanderings.

Her image of the Temple of the Winds in Fitzroy Gardens, Melbourne put me in mind of the Temple of Ancient Virtue at Stowe Landscape Gardens in Buckinghamshire, England. I mentioned this when I commented on her post, and she responded that she would be interested to see my images.

These were taken on my earlier Nikon (D70s), around midday on a day in early March 7 years ago… I have perked the images up a tad in ColorEfex Pro (in those early days of shooting digital, I used Jpegs). One day I’ll return. so here goes, a couple of shots of this rather wonderful folly through the trees:

  1. A beautiful perspective Sue! Love it!

    • I was pleasantly surprised, looking back on these…it was a gentle spring day, and I thought the perspective through the trees worked – thanks!

  2. Lovely light and angle – beautiful.

  3. It’s a lovely looking place, Sue 🙂 I’ve only ever seen it on TV but it reminds me a lot of Studley Royal and Fountains Abbey. Have you been there at all? Lovely shots, anyway.

  4. That is a great Temple Sue, I love it, and I love the setting it is in too. Thanks for letting me know you posted the photos. 🙂

  5. Love temples like this, and your photo (and Leanne’s) reminds me of Petworth Park where we went a lot. Haven’t any posts on my blog but here is a photo from my flickr account:
    Petworth

    • Lovely image, Jude! Like the silhouette… 🙂 I don’t recall this, but it’s many, many years since I a have been to Petworth Park.

      • They put a new roof on it whilst we were living nearby so around 5 years ago I reckon. We often went to the park to see the deer.

Somewhere I’d like to visit … just what IS it about temples we all like Sue 🙂
