It’s time again for Frizztext’s A to Z Challenge, this week it’s X. From my travels, X could be for…..well, I couldn’t think of a single place…… Oh dear!
But a bit of thinking had me make a detour during my trip to London yesterday over to Oxford Circus’s X Crossing, at the busy junction of Oxford Street and Regent Street. Phew, job done!
The X Cross is a pedestrian crossing that allows people to cross the road diagonally as well as straight across. It’s great to see in action….all the traffic stops for a short while, people cross the road from all directions in a mad scramble, then the lights for the pedestrians turn red again, and traffic mayhem starts again! A slice of street life…
It really needs to be seen from above to get the full effect of the place, but no time to find out how to do that yesterday.

Well, there are towns with X in my mind, Frizz – I just haven’t visited them!

Wow, this must look great from above – you need to get yourself into a building where you can get to an upper floor! There is a similar system somewhere in England where traffic can cross diagonally too – sounds far too confusing for me.
Blimey! I do know there are at least a couple of other places (Wood Green is one) with the pedestrian X crossing.

Brilliant take on the subject – X isn’t easy … great images, how many times haven’t I been standing there waiting for green light. It’s one of the maddest points in London. And where does all the people come from ????

I think I’m beginning to see you point about re-blogs. I just encountered 2 sites that were completely made up of re-blogs. But, you have to admit that a re-blog reveals your site to people who otherwise would not have seen it.
I have 3 sites one of which is http://jtm72.wordpress.com/ a joke site. this person used to re-blog every joke I posted, it bothered me till i realized that this person had a popular site with a joke section. People would click my re-blogged jokes which brought them to my site were I have links to my other sites (sort of a cross discipline), my list of followers which was somewhat stagnant increased by 10 fold. I would thank the person for each joke re-blog. The person finally told me that I don’t have to thank them for each re-blog.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! Happy blogging 🙂
