Beauty in Decay/7

Two rogue peony flowers appeared the other week…a much richer, darker colour than their fellows. Here is one, blown over:

gosh – another terrific image. I love the way you are isolating the flowers against the white background.

    • Thank you, Suzanne. As these are flowers in their last throes, I pick them, put them in a vase, position the vase in front of a whitish blind with the sun streaming through….fabulous backlight, great image! Only trouble is we are now getting cloudy days, so my light burst has gone! I shall be playing about with off-camera flash before too long. 🙂

Weather hey! It wrecks many a good project. Hope you find a way to compensate for the lack of natural lighting. 🙂

      • Hoho…so do I! The air has been blue here as I have been swearing madly at my Speedlite out of sheer frustration. Just could NOT get it to function how I wanted. Eventually got some semblance of effect, but quite a way to go yet!

Good luck – sounds like a new project evolving. 🙂

      • Let’s hope so….

Nice use of the word ! I am enjoying your photos against the white backlight a lot Sue.

  3. I haven’t photographed indoors for years. Good idea though. And I love these deep pink peonies – remind me of my dad’s waaay back in the 1950s

  4. It’s a gorgeous photo. There is something very special in beauty in decay. I think this photo is even more beautiful than the one of a peon in full bloom.

    • Thank you, Otto. This flower has now shrivelled up a bit more, and I have taken an image with natural light from the side, will see if that one is worth posting later…I am enjoying experimenting with Nature Morte!

  5. Can I slap ‘favourite’ on this one, please, Sue? 🙂

  6. Sue, I like this better … than the black – this is very bold and dramatic. Great job.

Over to you...
