A fslideshow of some images of peonies in all their colourful, blowsy exuberance. These are from my garden, thriving on neglect! I looked out of my kitchen window, and counted 16 blooms on one clump, and a dozen on another. There is another crop in my front garden, which are paler. As I am no gardener or botanist, I have no clue as to why this should be…because I thought these plants all had the same beginnings….

Also, the centres of some flowers are one colour and others are variegated…is this a difference between male and female flowers? Somebody must be able to tell me! (Probably someone has blogged this and I haven’t been paying attention!)

  1. You must a have truly beautiful garden, Sue. Those peonies are gorgeous!

  2. Amazingly beautiful flowers, and photos of same! Peonies must be a hardy plant and decided to swim vs. sink!

  3. Your peonies are so beautiful!!! Looks like a couple varieties like we bought. So next year we can compare. 🙂

  4. I love peony season, but then you know I do.

  5. Oh, and I love your photos, the ‘blown over’ is my favourite but they are all good. I think the difference is in the varieties – some of the most flamboyant are the rock or tree peonies.

Over to you...
