Lingering Look at Windows: Old or Decrepit

It’s week 11 of Dawn’s Lingering Look at Windows 2014. From me, some old stuff and some abandonment and decay. I’ve had a busy few days, but just managed to grab a few shots of some windows, that have mostly seen better days!

First up, some old windows in the Jaffé feather factory in Axminster, Devon. This is, I believe, the last feather factory in the UK (a feather business and dyeworks that was set up over 70 years ago), but is still functioning:

Next, some windows in a factory which looks to all intents and purposes abandoned, and just a little sinister and eerie:

Lastly, some absent windows:

  1. A feather factory! Now that’s a first, Sue 🙂 I like it!

  2. Love the feather factory, by the look of all those new bricks those windows have been altered quite a bit.

    • I guess they might have, although someone in the area thought the building was protected….I went on a site covering listed buildings and couldn’t find it. The mystery deepens!

I just HAD to google the feather factory Sue 😉 What a great find and good to see such a business is still strong ! Love the hint of script you’ve caught there under the windows too .

  4. Great images, Sue. And it’s such an interesting factory you have capture as some of the other comments point to. The rickety bricks gives an extra touch to the images – along with the warm red colour tones.

  5. I love that old “brush” font on the feather factory.

  6. Love the French board as much as the windows!! 😉

  7. Wow, this is really cool. I especially love that second shot.
