Weekly Photo Challenge: Object & Travel Theme: Dry

For this week’s Weekly Photo Challenge, Cheri Lucas Rowlands at WordPress has challenged us to use one tangible object as both your inspiration and subject. And over at her blog, Ailsa has chosen ‘Dry’ as the weekly Travel Theme...

Ever one for combining challenges, this week my Object is a wine bottle photographed ‘contra jour’ to bring out the colour of the glass. The travel aspect of this was the fact it was bought as part of a case from the Cave de Pfaffenheim during a trip to Alsace about 6 or so years ago. The ‘Dry’ aspect is the fact that that bottle is now empty…and it was the last one! Tragedy…..I adore Alsace Riesling. Bone dry and good for pairing with food such as fish, white meat, Asian cuisine….

  1. Oh I wish I had your talent for combining challenges! This is excellent for both – a Grand Cru indeed and what fabulous colour you have captured.

    • Thanks, Jude, for the flattering comment! Talent is a nice way of putting my penchant for faffing about! It was an interesting experiment, because I didn’t have time to do bracketed shots for HDR (which would have been ideal because the dynamic range was way outside what the sensor could cope with…so a bit of post-processing jiggery pokery. It’s OK, but there should be more ‘life’ in the label….

  2. Well it’s a DRY wine too so that’s definitely double duty! Good choice Sue!

  10. Clever take on the theme!

  11. An ingenious interpretation Sue 😀 I love Riesling, although i prefer it less dry. Just went through the last of the bottles we brought back from Paris 😦

    • I love bone dry Alsace Riesling with food, but for an apéritif, Moselle Kabinett or Spätlese are hard to beat… Oh, and thanks for remarking on my ingenuity!
