There is a decaying old abandoned building due for demolition that I pass now and again. With a weird/nightmarish/lurid scene on one wall on the upper floor (you fill in the word that fits)…
Every time I have passed in the car I have said to myself ‘must bring the camera next time…’ (a bit less politely than that). As one does…
Today I was off to the dentist, and remembered to take old camera… Would the building have been demolished?
And there it was in all it’s glory. Exposed to the light of day is a once-interior wall with painting/graffiti on it. I can only suppose that this has been there quite sometime because my photo shows some wood blocks that lie over the original artwork…And what was the building used for (you don’t need to answer that bit)…
As luck would have it, I managed to park illegally, poke my camera lens through a hole in the hoarding surrounding the building site, and job done!
What’s the back story?
Not normally but I might now 🙂 Really like that.
Teehee… glad you liked this strange offering! I struck luck today, because I had been wondering how to get a half-decent image from the opposite side of the road, over the wooden hoarding, then managed to get a straight shot at it!
This is very interesting. Spanish dancers (Flamenco) and guitarist, a matador, and more scenes from the bullring. I suspect this isn’t ancient bushman paintings in Madrid, but perhaps the building was a Spanish restaurant or bar at some time and this is a frieze? I don’t find it scary, but I do find it intriguing…
Not in Madrid, South West London! I really don’t know what it was…. Interesting, I found the black background quite sinister.
It looks to me as though it has been burnt.
Perhaps it did…..
You wouldn’t want to live in a house opposite that, would you? The eye and mind can play tricks.
Totally agree!
Almost frightening…but interesting story. I guess we will never find out.
I’ve been asking around, but so far no one can tell me….
What a find! 🙂
It was, rather!
A sort of Danse Macabre? Or as author, Neil Gaiman has it in his children’s book, The Graveyard Book – the Macabray. Hm. A brave capture.
That’s exactly how it struck me, a Danse Macabre…
Love the ghostly apparitions!! Not scary, but I would keep my distance after dark 🙂
As someone remarked earlier, a bit of the Danse Macabre….
