Weekly Photo Challenge: Good Morning

For this week’s Weekly Photo Challenge, ‘Good Morning’ my initial thought was “I haven’t got anything to post”…. then I had a bit more of a think. What makes a good morning?

These days, my mornings are quite mundane, cup of tea to start with, then muesli, yoghurt and apple juice….nothing very photogenic there! My room looks onto the garden, so in spring the magnolia blooms look good, and in the autumn it’s the turn of the smoke bush.

But my best mornings are when I’m away (all too rare these days). I love being out before most of the world has got going, which is becoming more of a challenge for me these days, and only when I’m away!  So here are some morning images from my travels.

First up, the French town of Tarascon in Provence, seen at 7am one April day in 1982….

Next, it’s Angles sur l’Anglin, a delightful village in the Vienne, early one September morning:

And most recently, the morning light at Matera in Basilicata, Italy on the view from just outside our converted cave hotel:

Amazing how the scene from 1982 could easily be a scene from a small mediterranean village today. What a timeless image!
