Lingering Look at Windows: Spot the window

Well, it’s Thursday, and time for another Lingering Look at Windows, as set by Dawn over at The Day After.

For this week, I thought I would get away from my usual theme of decay, and post some windows seen in trulli during my travels….. The trullo is a conical roofed building seen in Italy’s region of Puglia (and doubtless they are occasionally seen elsewhere). But windows in trulli appear to be tiny and difficult to find. I did spot some minute ones in a roof and a wall just below:

Where are the windows?

Or they are shuttered…

Unless you happen to be looking at a trullo church:

And I did find a larger example in a trullo in a field…

At last, a reasonable sized window...

Interesting, eh? Doubtless those with more trullo knowledge than me might elaborate on this theme…

  1. Virginia Duran

    Wow! Very interesting windows indeed!

  2. My posts on Trulli Houses are coming up soon.

  3. I’ve never seen a trullo church, Sue, so thanks for that. This is the perfect “no windows” post 🙂 I love it!

  4. Wonderful, I have wanted to see Trulli – your photos make me want to see more!!

  5. These are really great 🙂

  6. Interesting design – I’ve never seen these before. It must be dark inside -? Perhaps small windows let in less heat during hot summers -?

  7. I agree with Lynne it must be dark inside. Did you go inside any of them Sue?

    • Actually, yes I did and because of interior lighting it didn’t seem too dark…but with ought lights I think a Trullo would seem claustrophobic

  8. Very cool and different. I just love that!
