I liked the idea of Ese’s new challenge, but was wondering what to post for Beginning, this week’s prompt. I am a bit into decay and dereliction at the moment, and thought that I needed to get my mind onto other things… I have also sneaked this image into Dawn’s Lingering Look at Windows, by way of killing two challenges with one post, so to speak.
A eureka moment in the middle of the night, lines from Eliot’s East Coker (partly) sprang to mind for ‘Beginning’. So without further ado, here is the opening line and the final line end excerpt from East Coker, and my image, cobwebs and corrosion…not the most obvious answer to ‘Beginning’ –
“In my beginning is my end. In succession
Houses rise and fall, crumble….”
“…….In my end is my beginning”
Excerpts from East Coker, T S Eliot.
Too tenuous a link for Ese’s challenge? Do let me know….
I’m always a sucker for an Elliot line or three.
That’s the spirit! But what about my image??? 😉
Hahhhaa most suitable for BOTH challenges (I think) 😀
🙂
Your images fits profoundly…makes one think; the quality is superb, and the fragility of the tiny flame revealing.
Many thanks for your comment…the tiny flame mystified me, I guess the wick is still visible, but it would be fitting! 🙂
The tiny flame was the symbolic meaning for me.
Oh, I did wonder!
Thank you for being a part of the challenge! A really wonderful approach – makes me think of the meaning of time, values…beginning and the end. And the quote rounds it up nicely.
Thanks Ese, I enjoyed thinking about this one! 🙂
An interesting reflection in the quote as well as in your image! 🙂
Visiting from Ese’s.

Thanks, Lindy! Glad you found it interesting 🙂
I like your choices and think they fit the theme quite well. 🙂
Thanks! 🙂
A multi tasking blogger!
A blogger after my own heart 😉
I take it you liked the post, then! Now and again I like to give myself more of a challenge…. 🙂
I’m not hugely into quotes (ssh, don’t tell! 🙂 ) apt though they very often are. But I LOVE this photo.
Many thanks, Jo. I was rather pleased with it….but the funny thing is, I concentrated on taking the indoor shots (some of which were in the earlier Decrepitude post), then took this as an afterthought as I was walking back to the car! Just goes to show…Had some fun with the post-processing! 🙂
