Black and White Photo Challenge: Nature

Well, just been alerted to a new challenge over at Sonel’s blog, Black and White. For this first week, we are challenged to come up with images from nature. And I thought, why not have a shot?

A long time ago (more than quarter of a century), I used to do my own D&P, using Ilford film and chemicals….The nostalgia – when I was doing some clearing out recently, and came across instructions for Microphen developer! Hey ho, those days are long past, but occasionally I have a go at digital monochrome…not too successfully.

Well, here goes for an image taken in a rather dark, shady wood…loved these tree trunks – when I have more time I’ll have to try to improve on this (a colour version has appeared in a previous post):

Stunning entry for the challenge Susan and thank you for participating. I am glad I don’t have through the film and chemical stages. I would surely die. I love digital film and our technology for today. 😀

    • Thanks! You would not die with the old technology, I’m sure you would rise to the challenge! 😉

hahaha, no ways. I am too impatient for that. I still have an old camera that my granddad used and I did take photo’s with it but that waiting for them to develop is not in my genes. Digital photo’s are also much, much cheaper. 😀

      • Well, I’m inclined to agreed with you….I don’t think I could go back to the waiting now. plus, of course, the sheer prohibitive expense of the whole film lark. Mind you, digital can be expensive if you want the best software. I personally hanker for Silver Efex Pro, but I know I will never be able to afford it! Dream on!

That is true indeed. I have the complete Nik Software but do prefer Color Efex Pro and use it now and then. When I edit my colour photos to B&W I still use Corel Paint Shop Pro. 😀

Over to you...
