Pitigliano view 1
I have just been sorting some images I have taken in the last few years, a bit off the beaten track in Italy, and have been taking a look at enhancing a few of them to give them a bit more of a ‘wow’.
First up is the town of Pitigliano, in the province of Grossetto in the less visited southern corner of Tuscany. Not on the usual list of places for a Tuscan tour. It is built on tufa rock, and the view of the town as you approach on the road from Manciano is stunning – standing high on it’s promontory. That’s the image above.
In the town, the streets are narrow and the buildings tall…a maze of streets, on different levels, with interesting architecture, shuttered windows, twists and turns. A fascinating place.
I will post some images of a couple of villages in Lazio in future posts.
I seem to remember driving past this village. It gave me vertigo just looking at it.
It is pretty amazing!
Very interesting town. Thanks for the heads up.
You are very welcome! I love these places, quirky, characterful and with a palpable sense of time passing….
These are the places I love to travel to. The people in your street scenes add so much interest. Wonderful photography.
Many thanks for your encouraging comment, Pat. I like to try to to have some human interest when I can, makes a place come alive….as long as they belong in the scene!
Funny. 🙂
Great photos of Pitigliano. It really is a fascinating place.
Thanks, Debra. I really must get back there one day….
