This week’s travel theme over at “Where’s my backpack”, Ailsa’s excellent blog, is ‘Time’.
I thought about what ‘time’ evokes for me, and where, from my travels, I could illustrate this.
Firstly, the obvious – how time has been measured. So the first couple of images are of a sundial (over the arch of the entrance tower in Ammerschwihr, in Alsace, France) and an astronomical clock (in Prague).
Then, as I love ruins for the emotion they engender as much as the visual effect of time’s ravages, I have included a shot of the great Gothic ruin of the abbey of San Galgano (in Tuscany, Italy). This image speaks time for me in another, personal way as this is a shot from my past life with my then partner appearing in the frame.
Finally, the passage of time as shown by erosion of stone in a statue, and moss growing (this from Sacro Bosco, Bomarzo, Italy).

Beautiful and emotional photos 🙂
Thank you!
Awesome! 🙂
Thanks!
The second link in your comment was wrong but I found the right post. I’ve been to three places out of four in this post. 🙂 No Alsace for me yet. Amazing to see the moss in San Galgano. Do you remember which month that was?
Yay, thanks! The moss was at Bomarzo (on tha t statue)
Oh right, I read the wrong caption. But still, there is green on the ground. I don’t recall that, just pebbles and sand.
Ah, in 1991 there was grass, worn away in the centre….
