I have been having a play around with the iColorama and Snapseed apps on my iPad to see whether I could get some of the images I have taken of scenes on frosty winter days to look more ‘real’….Sometimes, I have felt that due to the lighting on the day, or my incompetence behind the lens,I haven’t been able to reproduce on camera or after basic image adjustments, what my eye saw.
So, over to the post-processing fun for an example…..
This one with iColorama
This with Snapseed
For me, the second image works better. As I recall, the light was poor, and the scene rendered nearly monochrome to the eye as a result. The frosted trees stood out in the scene. But my original images were so low contrast, they didn’t evoke the scene as I remembered it. I could spend a lot longer and work at these on the computer, but the idea was to see what I could come up with fairly quickly on a mobile device!
Winter looks good on photos.
