Apps for mobile photography

Having a very lazy Jubilee Tuesday trying out a couple of apps I have just stumbled across for my ipad….huge fun! Well, I’ve earned it after I spent an hour in the garden and wore myself out for the day.

First up was Tiny Planets, an app that creates stereographic projections – a technique that basically turns your photo into a sphere. I quickly realised that I was getting the best effects with more linear images….here is one:

Just looks like a well? But it was a door in a wall….

Next I tried ScratchCam, which really appealed to me as it has quite a number of effects to apply. you can make things look old, mysterious, forlorn, abandoned etc etc. For whiling away a few hours in creative bliss instead of watching rubbish on the box I would heartily recommend it…

Of course, some of the best effects will come from using more than one app to create a final image…one here

I think some of these might make great prompts for poetry….that’s for another day.

  1. great effects and obviously great fun Sue

  2. very cool…i have quite some photo apps on my iPhone…none of those you mention though…cool pics…def. have to check them out

  3. that first one is really cool…it kinda looks like a stairwell or a pit…really cool textures in it as well….

    • Thanks! It was the texture of the wall and the old door that appealed to me when I took the photo in the first place, and that’s why it works well with this manipulation.
