Plant life

Posting something built daft today as that’s the mood I’m in….not sure it cuts it for open link night over at  dVerse Poets Pub, but let’s see…..

I’ve been lent a book of Ivor Cutler’s prose, and I thought I’d do a silly poem in  attempted homage…

At Chelsea,
happy hours
by the Show gardens
and in the Pavilion,
she observed the plants closely

In turn,
the plants observed her
seeing an artistic person,
with a good eye for colour
and form
but alas, little idea
of nurturing plants.

Duly saddened,
the plants wilted.

(Of course, at Chelsea Flower Show, the plants very definitely do not wilt…well, not when the visitors are there to see).

  1. ha i found it funny…and even though artistic def does not mean you have a green thumb…oh but we can appreciate the beauty of the flower….smiles…

  2. smiles…not every artist is a good gardener…but it’s a good start to appreciate color and shape..and who knows…gave me a big smile

  3. Sounds like a lovely sight to see! Also sounds a little like me. With the exception of an aloe I’ve kept alive for three decades, I have definitely got a “brown” thumb. Loved your poem.

  4. Made me laugh out loud. Thanks!

That could be me causing despair to the plants, I’m hopeless at gardening.

  5. Sue, this made me chuckle 🙂

  6. Yes, I’ve experienced this. Unlike the Prince of Wales, when I talk to my plants they wilt. Perhaps I’m having the wrong conversation. 😉
